Events & Workshops

The Center for Gender Studies organizes conferences, symposia, workshops and seminars, speakers and film series and art events throughout the year. Each winter the Center hosts the Distinguished Faculty Lecture featuring University of Chicago faculty doing innovative interdisciplinary work.

Ongoing activities of the Center include Friday Lunch Series featuring local faculty as well as artists and activists from the Chicago community; the Film-Themed Speakers Series; the Gender and Sexualities Workshop; the Women in Sciences Project; and the Feminist Lives and Queer Trajectories Series.

Mary Anne Case, Professor of Law, has created a new workshop at the Law School on Regulating Family, Sex and Gender. The workshop meets irregularly on Thursday afternoons in the Winter and Spring from 4:00 to 5:30 in Room B of the Law School. Students may register to take credit, but all interested persons are welcome to attend any sessions that interest them.

Many events are held at the Center, which is located at 5733 South University Avenue, and shares space with the Center for the Study of Race, Politics, and Culture. (CGS Contact Information)
